A prayer of Hope and Devotion.
O Lord, my God, in whom I trust,
You’ve led me through the ash and dust.
Each step behind, Your grace has paved—
Each sin forgiven, each soul-wave saved.
Yet whether days ahead be many or few,
May every breath give glory to You.
Let not my yesterdays boast or shine
More bright than the days yet to be Thine.
Let all I’ve done, by mercy spun,
Be shadowed by what is yet to be done.
Not for acclaim, nor fleeting story—
But all to the praise of Your matchless glory.
If strength should fade and footsteps slow,
Still let my life in witness grow.
If youth remains, then let it burn
For wisdom found at every turn.
You are the Author of my song—
Each stanza right, each chorus long.
And though the curtain nears its close,
The final act in beauty grows.
So come what may, O risen Son,
The truest work is yet begun.
My hope, my joy, my crown, my sum—
Is this: the best is yet to come.
